Friday Night Fights 6/11/10

The title "Hell Hath No Fury" was more than enough to mark NYC's first, all-female fightcard. Friday's event delivered beyond it's catchy title, with inspirational displays of solid skill and immeasurable heart by the top female fighters in the area. It showed the crowd what Muay Thai was all about.

Throughout the evening, the audience seemed to feed off of every blow, causing roaring waves of energy throughout the packed venue. Among the many notable fights, Jill Guido and Florian Petcu sealed the deal. Although there was a noticeable size difference between the two, the smaller Guido came out stalking from the 1st bell with quick counters and constant pressure. It was a very close and evenly matched fight with no shortage of drama, ending with Petcu taking the decision.

Despite being the first of its kind, the ladies put on a spectacular show of talent and perseverance – and we're certainly hoping it's not the last.
